Today, the American Library Association (ALA) announces the appointment of American University doctoral student Jamie Schleser as Research Associate for the organization’s Office for Information Technology Policy (OITP). As part of the OITP Fellows Program, Schleser will work on varied aspects of the OITP portfolio.
Schleser previously worked for the technology policy unit as a Google Policy Fellow during the summer of 2013. Her appointment as a Research Associate will extend from September 1, 2013, through August 31, 2014.
Ms. Schleser will continue her work with OITP in applying her dissertation research on online-specific digital libraries to help ALA articulate visions and strategies for the future of libraries. Jamie’s OITP work will culminate in the publication of an OITP Perspectives paper before the end of her tenure as a Research Associate.
The OITP Fellows Program serves to draw on nationally recognized researchers, practitioners and policy advocates in library information sciences or allied areas to strengthen the OITP’s involvement in national policy discussions. In 2011, OITP expanded this program by creating Research Associates, who are early-career professionals with demonstrated potential and serious interest in national public policy engagement.
