There has been a slight change to the application review of the Innovative Approaches to Literacy (IAL) program that probably will not affect many ALA members. U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan on July 24 announced that the Department of Education will waive Executive Order 12372, what was a task originally included in the July 11 IAL application notice. By waiving this executive order, the Secretary has chosen to forego a review between federal, state and local entities in hopes to make timely grant awards available for the IAL program.
This means that grant applicants do not need to file their applications with the state.
Please remember that the deadline to submit grant applications is still August 10, 2012 at 4:30 pm EST. For further information about applying for this grant, as well as the registration requirements please check out our website.
