Congratulations to Jason Kucsma, a member of OITP’s Advisory Committee, on his appointment as the new Executive Director of the Metropolitan New York Library Council (METRO). As described in its bylaws, METRO exists “to improve reference and research library services in the New York Metropolitan Area by promoting and facilitating utilization of existing resources and by developing additional resources.”
Jason succeeds Dottie Hiebing who retired from METRO earlier this year. Dottie served on the OITP Advisory Committee for several years, which included service as chair for 2007-2008.
“I’m very happy to offer congratulations to Jason on behalf of OITP and ALA. I greatly appreciate his contributions to OITP, especially his work on digital collections,” said Bonnie Tijerina, Chair of the OITP Advisory Committee. Jason will be a panelist on an OITP webinar on hidden collections to be held on November 2nd. Jason will also serve on an OITP panel on this topic at the 2012 Midwinter Conference, scheduled for Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
For further details on Jason’s appointment, see the METRO press release at http://www.metro.org/en/art/443/.
