Four states (CA, IL, ME and SD) have submitted applications for the State Fiscal Stabilization Fund to the U.S. Department of Education. You can find the applications at http://www.ed.gov/programs/statestabilization/resources.html.
On Monday, April 20, the Department of Education approved California’s application. Unfortunately California is using the entire amount in the Government Services Fund of the State Fiscal Stabilization Fund for public safety. It isn’t clear how the Education Stabilization Funds will be spent.
