OITP Welcomes New Information Analyst to the Washington Office

OITP would like to welcome Marijke Visser on her first day in the Washington Office.  Many ALA staff and members had the opportunity to meet Marijke  in Denver at the 2009 Midwinter Conference, and hopefully those that did not will have the pleasure of working with her in the coming months on OITP initiatives and projects.

As an Information Technology Policy Analyst, Marijke’s major responsibility is to provide support for OITP’s new Broadband Strategy Advisor activity, a part of the Opportunity Online Broadband Grants Program of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In addition, she will support OITP’s E-rate advocacy and education initiatives and other activities in the Program on Networks.

Marijke is completing her Master’s in Library Science degree at Indiana University, where she is studying under Professor Mary Alice Ball, Vice-chair of OITP’s Telecommunications Subcommittee. Marijke has served the Quaker community in Richmond, Indiana for many years as an administrator, teacher, board member, and community service organizer.  Marijke completed her bachelor of arts degree at Earlham College.
