The ALA Washington Office (WO) is pleased to announce the addition of two new staff members, Kristin Murphy and Jenni Terry.
Kristin joined the Office of Government Relations (OGR) on October 6th as the Government Relations Specialist. She previously worked on Capitol Hill as an Executive Assistant to Congressman Rick Larsen. From a grassroots perspective, Kristin has been organizing for over seven years on various political/legislative campaigns, including Senator Tim Johnson and Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle. Kristin attended the University of South Dakota, where she earned a degree in Political Science with a minor in Communication Studies.
As the Government Relations Specialist Kristin’s portfolio will include leading the organization of National Library Legislative Day, working closely with the Federal Library Legislative and Advocacy Network (FLLAN) to strengthen grassroots advocacy efforts, in addition to a variety of other advocacy and legislative outreach activities.
Jenni joined the Communications Department on November 17th as the Press Officer. Jenni is also coming from Capitol Hill, where she previously served as press secretary for Congressman Rodney Alexander. Prior to that, she served as legislative correspondent for Congressman Boustany and as a copy editor for the Team Advertising and Publishing in Ruston, La., and for the Monroe News Star in Monroe, La. Jenni has a degree in journalism from Louisiana Tech University.
As the Press Officer, Jenni’s portfolio will include managing a comprehensive, issue-oriented communications strategy, increasing the organizational visibility and influence of ALA by generating positive media coverage, as well as contributing her talents to several other ALA communication initiatives.
